In a market where half the field quotes one figure to win a customer and a different figure to keep one, that consistency deserves credit, and it is the first thing we would tell you about them.

What Rides Along With the $125

Think of Rocket Lawyer as a legal services platform that happens to include an agent, rather than an agent service with extras attached. Membership brings document templates, form libraries, and attorney consultations. An owner who opens those tools monthly gets real value for the money.

An owner who wants nothing but a dependable North Dakota delivery point for a summons is renting a library.

North Dakota's Rules for Who Sits in That Seat

This state adopted the Model Registered Agents Act, and it did so before any other state did. Under § 10-01.1-05, an entity names its agent in the filing that puts it on the register, and the chapter then recognizes two categories of appointee.

A commercial registered agent keeps a listing on file with the Secretary of State. That is our category, and it is why our record can be selected rather than typed out.

The other category, noncommercial, covers two sorts of appointee: a person whose residence is here in North Dakota, and a company holding a state registration plus a business office located inside the state. A member who lives here and is genuinely available during business hours can serve in that second category; the Secretary of State says so directly on its registered agents page.

All three routes satisfy the same chapter. Two of them cost money, and the more expensive one is more expensive because of features, not because of legal standing. Nothing in the statute grants a bigger platform a stronger appointment.
